Until the Race is Won!
Surrounded!
I have a question...of course, don't I always??? In the 23rd Psalm it says "goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life"...and I'm sorry but I take that too literally !!! Why "follow" me??? Why not walk with me, beside me, be on my shoulder??? I got to thinking about this the other day when my grandson, Jesse, said " I follow you, Meme" and then ran ahead of me and said " Now, Meme, follow Jesse". I know I never have to follow "goodness and mercy" because they are following me. Maybe that's part of the deal when satan tries to make something bad happen and we allow God to control the outcome of satans works...kinda like the cop shows---you ever notice how they always scream around the corner and the person is screaming "Over here !!! Over here!!!" If goodness and mercy are always behind me, and they are from God --- then I just bet ya (and I am not a gambler---the last time we went to Atlantic City I walked thru the Casinos to get to the boardwalk and didn't drop a quarter !!!) anyhow, before I so rudely interrupted myself....I just bet ya since goodness and mercy are from God that they can see ahead of me too !!! So, maybe I don't have to worry about them being BEHIND me...all the days of my life...(I'm sure they are there "nights" too !!! =-) ) for they are following God's instructions for them....for you and for me. They are there. Thats it. Period. End of discussion. They will be there no matter what. Our free will can make it "look" like they are no where around !!! For our lives, and I for one, have had to learn this the hard way; there is Gods perfect will and also Gods permissive will. It means we may not be where He wants us to be. Which is usually my case. And trust me, Gods permissive will is never as good as His perfect will for your life. Goodness and Mercy can still follow you around...but you are going to be wondering why things aren't going your way !!! Like me, when is the last time you just stopped ALL activity; and waited on God. Quietly. No questions, no objections, no demands. Maybe even a little bit of praise quietly. And then silence. To see what He has to say. To see what He has planned for you. Instead of Goodness and Mercy coming in with the clean-up crew to make up for the latest mess we've gotten ourselves into...maybe they can grin and pour out a few blessings He'd had planned instead !!! Oh, I am not saying life will be easy by any means. We have Adam and Eve to thank for that !!! And remember, if ya want to punch Adam in the nose, the line forms behind me !!! I am saying, slow down, take some time, listen. Kinda like the old rail road crossings "Stop. Look. Listen." When we do that, God will be able to get "thru" to us...it's a sad state of affairs when He is put on hold !!! Because with Him in the forefront of our lives it can be so much easier. No I am not contradicting myself. His yoke is light, remember...cast all your burdens on Him....if I cast something to you...I no longer have it. And Goodness and Mercy will be alot closer---and you will be able to tell !!! And when satan does sneak a punch in---remember to tell him; "Oh I'm sorry, I "cast" that over to God...you'll have to talk to Him about that worry now...I no longer have it !!!" C'mon Goodness and Mercy lets go !!! Where do ya want to follow me to today??? What??? Wait on God and see what He has planned ??? Hhhhhmmmmm NOT a bad idea !!! Thanks I think I will !!!
